The short answer
The Best Day Rule measures your largest profitable trading day as a share of total net profit in the applicable period. Its limit depends on your market, program, phase and purchase conditions. There is no universal 15–20% limit for all Upcomers accounts.
Which limit applies?
Market / program | Phase | Best Day limit |
CFD and perpetuals programs that include a Best Day Rule | Funded challenge accounts or applicable instant funding accounts | 20%; check the specific program rules |
Thunderbolt Classic Futures, purchased on or after October 29, 2026 | Funded | 35% |
Thunderbolt Classic Futures, purchased before October 29, 2026 | Funded | 20% |
Vanguard Futures | Funded from the start | 20% |
Horizon Futures | Challenge | 40% |
Horizon Futures | Funded | No Best Day Rule |
Some programs have no consistency rule; others use a Best Trade Rule instead, which measures individual trades. Use your program rules and dashboard to identify the condition assigned to your account.

How the calculation works
Best Day % = largest day's net profit ÷ total net profit in the applicable period × 100.
The amount you choose to withdraw does not change this ratio. Losing days reduce total net profit and can increase the percentage. A new largest day changes the numerator as well as the total.
Example: with $10,000 of total net profit, a $3,000 best day represents 30%. It meets a 35% consistency limit but exceeds a 20% limit. This says nothing about whether the other payout conditions have been met.
If total net profit is zero or negative, the ratio is not a basis for payout eligibility. Check the dashboard and the applicable profit requirement.
Trading days and qualifying days
CFD and perpetuals use the UTC day. CME futures use the trading-day boundary at 5:00 PM ET. Closed-trade results are attributed to the applicable trading day.
A minimum qualifying-day requirement is separate from consistency. New Thunderbolt Classic Futures funded accounts require at least 3 days per payout period, each with profit of at least 0.5% of initial account balance. Classic accounts purchased before October 29, 2026 have no minimum-day requirement. Vanguard Futures also has no minimum-day requirement; its 6% profit target still applies.
What happens if the limit is exceeded?
Exceeding Best Day consistency does not itself breach or close the account. On funded accounts where the rule applies, payout eligibility waits until the ratio is within the assigned limit and all other conditions are met. All risk and trading rules remain active.
There is no guaranteed number of future days or fixed next-day profit amount that establishes eligibility. Recalculate from the actual largest day and total net profit in the applicable period.
When does it reset?
For funded payout cycles, a successful payout starts a new measurement period. Challenge-phase consistency follows that program's evaluation rules; see Futures: Best Day Rule for Horizon Futures.
