Obsidian 4-Phase Challenge

Full Explanation & FAQ

Updated this week

The Obsidian Challenge is a multi-step trading evaluation designed for disciplined traders who prefer a more progressive phase-based structure with lower profit targets per phase, static drawdown, and unlimited time.

It follows the exact same account sizes as Astral, but Obsidian is 15% cheaper, making it the most cost-efficient 4-phase challenge in the Upcomers lineup.

Minimum Trading Day Rule

A trading day is counted only if:

  • The net closed profit is at least 1% of the initial account balance

  • Only closed trades are taken into account (open trades do not count)

  • Trades opened before midnight and closed after midnight (UTC) count for the next trading day

  • Time zone: UTC, where each day runs from 00:00 to 23:59

Example: On a $100,000 Obsidian account, a trading day only counts if your closed profit is $1,000 or more.

Risk Management Rules

Daily Drawdown – 5%

Your equity must not fall below 5% from the starting day's balance or equity — whichever is higher.

Maximum Loss (Static) – 8%

This limit never moves. Your equity must never fall below 92% of your starting balance.

Example: On a $100,000 account, your static breach level is always $92,000.

Time Limit

There is no time limit to complete any phase.

You can progress at your own pace, using any strategy, including swing trading.

Weekend & Overnight

Yes — holding trades overnight and over weekends is fully allowed in all phases.

Funded Phase Rules

Once funded, the same Daily Drawdown (5%) and Static Maximum Loss (8%) rules apply.

In addition, the funded phase includes:

30% Best Day Rule

No single day can represent more than 30% of total profits.

3% Rule – Maximum loss per trade

You cannot loss more than 3% of your initial funded account balance in a single trade.

15% Profit Bonus from Challenge Phase

Once you reach 20% cumulative growth in the funded account, you also earn 15% of all profit generated during the challenge phase.
