Futures: Vanguard (Instant Funding) Complete Rules & Overview

This article is about Upcomers Futures (CME futures on Upcomers X). Looking for Vanguard on CFD? See VANGUARD (CFD) - Instant Funding Program. Vanguard on perpetuals: see Upcomers Perpetuals programs.

The Short Answer

Vanguard is Upcomers Futures instant funding. There is no evaluation: you start on a funded account and trade the funded rules from your very first trade, on the Upcomers X platform.

Vanguard uses size-based limits: 4% EOD trailing drawdown on $25K–$100K, 3.5% on $150K, and 3% on $200K–$400K. Daily drawdown is not applied on $25K, is 2.5% on $50K/$100K, and is 2% on $150K and larger accounts. There is no minimum trading-day requirement. Each payout requires 6% profit, a 20% Best Day limit and the remaining payout conditions. Payout caps depend on account size and payout number. Profit split options are 80%, 90% (default) or 100% at checkout.

Which rules apply

The limits below describe currently offered accounts. For an existing account, use the rules assigned to it in your dashboard.

What Vanguard is

Vanguard is the instant funding program in the Upcomers Futures lineup. Unlike Thunderbolt Classic, there is no challenge to pass. You buy the account, it is funded, and you trade the funded rules straight away on the Upcomers X platform. There is no Trial Phase, so you go straight to your funded account.

Vanguard starts in the funded phase. It requires 6% profit before each payout and a 20% Best Day limit, with no minimum trading-day requirement.

Account sizes

Available sizes are $25K, $50K, $100K, $150K, $200K, $300K and $400K.

EOD trailing drawdown

The floor is recalculated at 5:00 PM ET from the highest closing balance of a completed trading day. It only moves upward and locks at your initial balance. Live equity must stay above the active floor. Open profit does not raise the floor during the day.

Calculation: highest closing balance × (1 − your EOD drawdown percentage), capped at your initial balance.

$50K example (4%): the initial floor is $48,000. A close at $50,800 raises it to $48,768. A close at approximately $52,083.34 reaches the $50,000 lock level.

$100K example (4%): the initial floor is $96,000. A close at $102,000 raises it to $97,920. A close at approximately $104,166.67 reaches the $100,000 lock level.

A payout reduces your balance but does not lower the floor. Leave enough room for subsequent trading.

Daily drawdown

There is no daily drawdown limit on $25K. The limit is 2.5% on $50K/$100K and 2% on $150K and larger accounts. Where applicable, it resets at 5:00 PM ET.

The daily floor is the higher of balance or equity at reset, multiplied by (1 − the daily drawdown percentage). A fresh day recalculates this floor; it does not restore losses or reopen a breached account.

$50K example (2.5%): a $50,000 reset value gives a $48,750 floor. A $51,000 reset value gives a $49,725 floor. On a $100,000 reset value, the initial daily allowance is $2,500.

Max trade loss (1.5%)

The funded realized Max Trade Loss is 1.5% of initial account size: $750 on $50K or $1,500 on $100K. A breach can end the account even when overall results are profitable.

A stop does not guarantee that a loss stays below the cap. Leave room for slippage and do not split related positions to evade risk controls. See Max Trade Loss for calculations and examples.

Overnight and weekend holding

Vanguard does not permit holding through the daily break or over the weekend. The published Futures holding policy closes positions at 4:50 PM ET (3:50 PM CT), including Friday. The automatic close is not itself a rule violation. Where a daily drawdown applies, it resets at 5:00 PM ET.

The Best Day Rule

Vanguard uses a 20% Best Day Rule (consistency rule). No single trading day may account for more than 20% of your total profit at the time you request a payout.

This is a soft rule. It does not kill your account. It gates payout eligibility. If your best day is more than 20% of your total profit, you keep trading until the balance of your days brings that share back within the limit, then you can request the payout.

Example. If you want to withdraw and your total profit is $5,000, no single day can make up more than $1,000 of that (20%). One $3,000 day out of a $5,000 total would put you over the limit, so you would keep trading to spread your profit across more days before requesting the payout.

Payout conditions

Minimum trading days: none. Vanguard has removed the minimum trading days requirement entirely, including for your first payout.

Every payout request, including the first, has to meet these conditions:

  • You have reached the 6% profit requirement for the current payout segment. A $50K segment starting balance requires $3,000; a $100K starting balance requires $6,000.

  • Your best day is within the 20% Best Day Rule.

  • All positions closed at the time of the request.

  • A minimum payout of $50 (before the account’s profit split).

There is no fixed payout interval. Once you meet the conditions, you can request. Approved payouts are processed the same day, just like our CFD product. You keep up to 100% of your profit, up to the payout cap for that payout (below).

Payout structure: caps by account size

Each payout is capped by account size and payout number. The final tier continues on later payouts; the cap does not become unlimited. Some consecutive payouts share the same cap.

How the cap works: the cap is a ceiling on a single payout, not a limit on your total profit. Profit above the cap stays in your account and can be withdrawn on a later payout. You move to the next column only once a payout is fully approved.

Example on a $50K account. You reach the 6% profit target with $3,200 of profit and your best day is within 20%. Your first payout is capped at $750. The rest of your profit stays in the account. Your second and third payouts are capped at $1,000, and from your fourth payout onward the cap is $1,500.

For the caps of all three Futures programs, see Futures payout structure.

Payout processing fees

For current payout methods and processing fees, see How to request a payout. Review the quoted fee before confirming.

Inactivity

An account is closed after 14 calendar days without trading activity. The clock starts at purchase and resets when you close a trade. An unfilled order does not reset it. Inactivity closures cannot be reversed.

Common questions

Is there a profit target?

Not to get funded. Vanguard is instant funding, so you start funded and trade the funded rules from your first trade. To request a payout, though, you need to reach a 6% profit target.

Is there a minimum number of trading days?

No. The minimum trading days requirement has been removed completely. As soon as you reach the 6% profit target and meet the other conditions, you can request a payout.

When can I take my first payout?

Once you reach the 6% profit target, your best day is within the 20% limit, all positions are closed, and the amount is at least $50.

How much can I withdraw per payout?

Up to the cap for your account size and payout number. On $100K, the first payout is capped at $1,200, payouts 2–4 at $2,000, and payout 5 onward at $3,000. All eligibility conditions continue to apply.

Did the drawdowns change?

The current drawdown limits depend on account size. Use the table above and the rules assigned to your account.

What breaches the account?

Breaching the active EOD floor, an applicable daily drawdown limit or the 1.5% Max Trade Loss can end the account. The Best Day Rule is a payout condition.

Can I hold trades overnight or over the weekend?

No. Every open position is closed automatically at 4:50 PM ET (3:50 PM CT) each trading day, Friday included, so no position is held through the daily break or over the weekend. The daily drawdown resets at 5:00 PM ET.

What is my profit split?

Up to 100%. You keep up to 100% of your profit, within the payout cap for each payout.
