Futures: 1-Step Horizon Complete Rules & Overview

Our 1-Step futures evaluation: one 6% target and a 40% consistency rule in the challenge, then funded on Upcomers X with no consistency rule.

This article is about Upcomers Futures (CME futures on Upcomers X). Looking for Horizon on CFD or perpetuals? See 1-step Horizon Challenge (CFD) or 1-step Horizon Challenge (Perpetuals).

The Short Answer

Horizon Futures is a one-step futures evaluation with 40% consistency rule in a challenge phase, not funded.

Hit a 6% profit target while staying inside a 4% End-of-Day trailing drawdown and a 3% daily drawdown (2% once funded), and you get a funded account. There is no consistency once funded, and payouts are on demand: once you meet the payout conditions, you can request a payout at any time, with no waiting period and no fixed payout cycle. Everything runs on Upcomers X or Deepcharts by Volumetrica.

Challenge phase

Profit target: 6%. On a $50,000 account that is $3,000. On a $100,000 account it is $6,000.

Trailing drawdown: 4%, End-of-Day. Your account must stay above a floor set 4% below your highest end-of-day closing balance. On a $100,000 account the floor starts at $96,000 and moves up once per day, at the 5:00 PM ET rollover, as your closing balance makes new highs.

Daily drawdown: 3%. You cannot lose more than 3% measured from the higher of your equity or balance at the 5:00 PM ET reset. On a $50,000 account that is $1,500.

Max trade loss: none in the challenge. The 1.5% per-trade cap applies only once you are funded.

Consistency: 40%. Your best trading day can be at most 40% of your total challenge profit. If it is higher, the challenge is not passed yet, but the account is not breached – keep trading until it is at or below 40%.

Funded phase

Trailing drawdown: 4%, End-of-Day. Recalculated once per day at the 5:00 PM ET rollover. On a $100,000 account it starts at $96,000 and locks permanently at your $100,000 starting balance once a day closes at about $104,167 or more.

Daily drawdown: 2%, reset 5:00 PM ET. On a $50,000 account that is $1,000.

Max trade loss: 1.5%. No single open trade may lose more than 1.5% of your account size ($750 on $50,000, $1,500 on $100,000). Positions on the same instrument in the same direction count as one trade. A hard breach.

No consistency rule. There is no Best Day Rule on a funded Horizon Futures account; the 40% consistency rule applies only during the challenge. How your profit is spread across days does not affect your payout.

Payouts on demand. There is no waiting period after funding and no fixed payout cycle. Request a payout any time you meet the payout conditions below.

How the trailing drawdown works

The trailing drawdown is our Dynamic Risk Shield™, an End-of-Day (EOD) floor. It is recalculated only once per trading day, at the 5:00 PM ET rollover, from the highest closing balance of any completed trading day, counting closed profit and loss only. Unrealized profit on open trades never moves it. During the day the floor is fixed, but your live equity, including open positions, is checked against it at every moment. An intraday spike in open profit does not drag the floor up, but a big intraday loss can still breach the account. Once a close puts the floor at your starting balance, it locks there permanently.

Watch your buffer after a payout. A withdrawal lowers your balance but not the floor, so it eats directly into your cushion.

The daily drawdown and the 5:00 PM ET reset

Futures reset at 5:00 PM ET, the CME trading-day boundary, not at midnight UTC. Your daily limit is measured from the higher of your equity or balance at that snapshot. If your equity falls below the limit at any point, all open positions close at market and the account ends. At 5:00 PM ET a fresh trading day begins.

Payouts

Payouts on Horizon Futures are on demand: no waiting period after funding and no fixed payout cycle. You can request a payout whenever all of these conditions are met:

  • At least 3% profit since your last payout.

  • Complete 5 trading days with 0.5% profit each

  • All positions closed at the time of the request.

  • A minimum payout of $100 (your share after the profit split).

There is no Best Day Rule check on Horizon Futures payouts.

Inactivity

The inactivity window is 14 calendar days. It starts at purchase and resets every time you close a trade. Inactivity closures cannot be appealed.

Common questions

How is Horizon Futures different from Thunderbolt Classic Futures?

Horizon has no 20% Best Day Rule on the funded account; instead, a 40% consistency rule applies during the challenge only. All other rules are the same, and payouts are on demand once the payout conditions are met.

How often can I request a payout?

Whenever you meet the payout conditions. There is no waiting period after funding and no fixed cycle such as weekly or bi-weekly.

Is there a max trade loss in the challenge?

No. The 1.5% max trade loss applies only on the funded account.

What breaches my account?

In the challenge: falling to the 4% trailing floor or breaking the 3% daily drawdown. Once funded: falling to the trailing floor, breaking the 2% daily drawdown, or losing more than 1.5% of account size on a single trade. These are hard breaches: open positions close at market and the account ends.

Can I hold overnight and over the weekend?

No, in either phase. Every open position is closed automatically at 4:50 PM ET (3:50 PM CT) each trading day, Friday included. The automatic close is not a rule violation.
